DNV updates standard for wind turbine structures
DNV’s recognized standard for design of offshore wind turbine structures has undergone a revision process along with the wind energy industry. The updated standard which is now available, aims to reduce cost and increase safety.
ProSep to provide ProSalt mixers
ProSep Inc. has won a USD 1.2 million contract to supply a leading Latin American oil company with ProSalt mixers. Recent field tests at the company’s facility have shown major improvements in the desalting process while reducing the need for dilution water and chemical injection.
New pH-neutral solution to clean stainless welds
Ensitech, the Australian product development company, has introduced a new pH-neutral solution to clean stainless steel welds in Europe. Member of Parliament for Pudsey, Leeds, Stuart Andrew, launched the TB-31ND Neutral Weld Cleaning Fluid for Stainless Steel.
Outokumpu duplex stainless workshop
Outokumpu’s office in Brazil will host a workshop in Rio De Janeiro on 19 September 2011. Special Metals relocates to Indiana
Special Metals Corp. will relocate operations from Rockford, Illinois, to Elkhart, Indiana, generating up to 100 new jobs by 2014. The producer of high-nickel, high-performance engineering alloys will move its A-1 Wire division, which manufactures stainless steel and nickel alloy wire 
Ulrich Pflanz has received the 2011 MTI Bert Krisher Memorial Scholarship from The Materials Technology Institute (MTI). Pflanz recently earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Surface Technology and Materials Science at the Aalen University in Germany. The award was presented by MTI Board Members Robert Sinko of Eastman Chemicals and Paul Manning from Haynes International at NACE’s Corrosion 2011 Conference in Houston, Texas. 
Thomas L. Ladwein, chair for electrochemistry, corrosion and tribology at Aalen University of Applied Science, Germany, was the recipient of the prestigious “Herbert H. Uhlig Award” from NACE International. The award was given during the annual conference recently held in Houston, Texas to honor Professor Ladwein’s exemplary efforts in academic corrosion education. 
The 7th biennial Stainless Steel World Conference & Exhibition 2011 will be held November 29th – December 1st in Maastricht, The Netherlands.
