Duplex

Duplex stainless steels have a ferritic-austenitic microstructure, in roughly equal proportions 50% ferrite and 50% austenite. Duplex combines many of the attractive properties of ferritic and austenitic stainless steels into one. They are designed to provide better corrosion resistance, in particular to stress corrosion and pitting corrosion. The microstructure leads to higher strength than standard austenitic stainless steels such as Type 304 or 316. Duplex stainless steels have become more and more popular in recent years.

Choose Weld Backing Tape to Support Weld Roots

Ceramic Backing Tape is often used to help support weld roots. However, with a melting point of 1,800ºC, concerns grow during TIG welding, where temperatures can reach up to 6,000ºC.

Weld purging stainless steel and CRAs at a distance

Huntingdon Fusion Techniques® (HFT®) has made it possible to have an immediate reading of a weld purge gas from any distance up to 1,000 metres away, with the PurgEye® 1000.The Weld Purge Monitor® has a stainless steel sensing head that can be fitted onto any pipe weld purging system, or can be left in the welding zone and have the oxygen levels transmitted electronically to a monitor up to 1 km away.“If exhaust gas from a normal weld purge system is piped down a hose to a distant measuring instrument, it may take many minutes, or even hours in some cases, to reach the sensor.

Raccortubi do Brasil to provide fittings for Petrobras

Raccortubi do Brasil has been approved by Petrobras as the company’s butt-weld fittings manufacturer. With

New pumps available in a wide range of materials

ITT Goulds Pumps has added the ICO Open-Impeller i-Frame pump its ISO Series of process pumps. The ICO Open-Impeller i-Fram pump is ideal for handling gases and air, and is fully compliant with both ISO2858 and ISO5199 standards.

Filters for harsh offshore operating conditions

SPX Flow, a supplier of specialized engineer solutions from the Plenty brand, has been chosen for two offshore operators because it meets the needs for new floating production storage and offloadings (FPSO).

ADDere now offers 3D printing

ADDere is now offering its services as a 3D printing firm. The company, which is an Additive Manufacturing (AM) System division of Midwest Engineered Systems (MWES), is leveraging the capabilities lf its laser wire additive system and is now taking on external printing projects in addition to developing and selling its AM machines.

Biogas mixer takes on the most challenging water issues

Xylem Inc., a leading global water technology company, has launched the Flygt 4460, a mid-sized biogas mixer, featuring a duplex stainless steel propeller designed for thick, viscous liquids, while also enduring abrasive and corrosive materials.

Weld Backing Tape brings solution to a common challenge

Huntingdon Fusion Technique’s® (HFT) Argweld® Weld Backing Tape™ is the solution to the common challenge that welders often face, where high-quality stainless steel, duplex, and chrome steel welds are required, but where the use of purge gas is not always possible.

Introducing the PurgEye® 1000

Huntingdon Fusion Techniques® (HFT) has introduced the PurgEye® 1000, a localised sensor that displays the oxygen level in a welding zone on a Weld Purge Monitor® screen that is up to 1,000 meters away from the weld.

Sandvik continues to invest in metal 3D printing

Global engineering group Sandvik announced at formnext 2018, that it is increasing its metal AM capacity by installing several RenAM 500Qquad laser 3D printers by Renishaw.
