New stainless steel electrodes from Select-Arc

Select-Arc, Inc. has designed two gas-shielded, metal cored, austenitic stainless steel electrodes, designed to resist intergranular corrosion in a wide variety of industrial welding applications. SelectAlloy 317L-C is composed of 19.5% chromium, 14% nickel, 3.5% molybdenum and a maximum carbon content of 0.03%. The high level of molybdenum improves resistance to pitting and offers increased creep resistance. SelectAlloy 317L-C is suitable for the pulp and paper industry as it is designed to handle solutions of sulfuric acid and sulfur bearing gases. SelectAlloy 347-C ideally suited for making small butt, lap and fillet welds on thin material at elevated travel speeds. This wire is used to weld Types 321, 347 and 348 stainless steel. The columbium in SelectAlloy 347-C decreases chromium carbide precipitation delivering augmented corrosion resistance in the welding of furnace parts, pressure vessels, chemical tanks and automotive parts.
