Vale awards USD 600 million for nickel plant

A consortium of four companies has landed a USD 600 million contract at the Vale nickel processing plant in Long Harbour. The two year contract is to assemble, hook up and commission the plant’s equipment and modules. Construction of the USD 2.8 billion nickel processing plant is scheduled for completion in February 2013. KBAC Constructors will execute the piping, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation work of the processing plant. The KBAC consortium is made up of GJ Cahill & Co, Peter Kiewit Infrastructure Co, BMA, and Alberici Corporation.
