The US International Trade Commission has voted to extend the tariffs on stainless steel sheet and strip imports from Japan, Korea and Taiwan for another 5 years, but voted against continuing tariffs on the same product imports from Germany, Italy and Mexico. Tom Conway, USW International Vice President issued a statement voicing the USW’s satisfaction with the antidumping orders against Japan, Korea and Taiwan as well as their disappointment that the ITC voted to end the orders against Germany, Italy and Mexico. The USW represents more than 1000 workers who produce stainless sheet and strip at Allegheny Ludlum facilities in Pennsylvania, Indiana, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Ohio, as well as workers employed at AK Steel’s Mansfield Works in Ohio.
