Petrobras to buy Vale fertilizer plant in Paraná

Petrobras has formalized the purchase of Vale’s Araucária Nitrogenados fertilizer plant.
It was acquired for R$ 234 million and will be paid off with revenues from leasing the mining rights owned by Petrobras to Vale in the state of Sergipe.
Located in Araucária, Parana, the factory is near the Presidente Getúlio Vargas Refinery – Repar, which supplies raw material.
With the acquisition of Fafen/Paraná, the company has strengthened its business in fertilizers, in line with the 2013 – 2017 Business and Management Plan.
The unit has an annual production capacity of 700,000 tons of urea and 475,000 tons of ammonia, as well as producing the Automotive Liquid Reducing Agent (Arla 32).
Fafen/Paraná joins Petrobras’ portfolio of fertilizer production which already has Fafen/Sergipe in operation with a production capacity of 657,000 tons/year of urea and 456,000 tons/year of ammonia and Fafen/Bahia with 474,000 tons/year of urea and 474,000 tons/year of ammonia.
