Electralloy given ABS certification

The Pennsylvania-based custom melter of specialty and stainless steels has been awarded the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) certification to make steel castings for marine applications.

This new certification will now allow the company to produce castings in alloy and stainless grades of 304N, 17-4, 15-5, Nitronic®50, Nitronic® 50ESR in weights up to 28, 500kgs (63,000 lbs). Since 1862, ABS has been developing technical standards for the design, construction and repair of ships. Some of the products covered by this certification include offshore mobile drilling units, concrete vessels, research and mining ships, tension leg platforms and single point moorings.
