Vestas wins 150MW order in Brazil

Vestas has received an order for 150MW for several projects in Brazil. The order is scheduled for completion by December 2012. As per the contract, Vestas will provide 75 x 2MW platform turbines to be placed in the region of Rio Grande do Norte in Brazil. The platform turbines will be used in the Ventos de Sao Miguel, Renascença I, Renascença II, Renascença III and Renascença IV projects.

Enterprise to expand NGL export facility

Enterprise Products Partners L.P. will expand the partnership's natural gas liquids (NGLs) import/export terminal on the Houston Ship Channel. It is expected that this project will almost double the fully refrigerated export loading capacity for propane and other NGLs at the facility. The capacity will increase to over 10,000 barrels per hour

Suncor, Total finalize oil sands plans

Suncor Energy Inc. has finalized its strategic union with Total E&P Canada Ltd. after receiving all necessary approvals and effectively meeting all other conditions. This agreement with Total is an important part of Suncor’s plan to quicken development of its growth portfolio and more than double its oil sands production by 2020.

Encana to join Kitimat LNG project

Encana Corp. will acquire a 30% interest in the planned Kitimat liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal and the associated natural gas pipeline located on the west coast of central British Columbia. The Kitimat LNG export development is being built to open significant new market opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region for abundant supplies of Canadian natural gas.

Six bidders short-listed for mine

Masdar nets USD 615 million for solar plant

Masdar has received USD 615 million of bank financing and USD 153 million in equity from its Spanish and French partners to build the world's largest concentrated solar power (CSP) plant. BlueChip to acquire land for solar farm

BlueChip Energy has signed an agreement to acquire land in Central Florida for the development of a 40MW capacity solar farm. The Sorrento Solar Farm is slated to be the largest photovoltaic (PV) solar plant in the State of Florida and the third largest in the United States when completed.

Siemens to aid in Steel Works expansion

Siemens VAI has received an order to expand the Monlevade LD Steel Works in Brazil. The expansion will be highly effective for the steel mill, doubling its capacity by 2012.

Suntech and Zachry win solar contract

Suntech and Zachry have received a contract from Sempra Generation to design and construct the Mesquite Solar 1 project in Arizona, USA. As per the contract, Zachry will install and integrate more than 800,000 Suntech multi-crystalline solar panels at the site. Construction of the plant will begin mid-2011 with completion set for 2013. The plant will generate 350,000MWh of electricity every year, enough to power 50,000 homes. Pacific Gas & Electric will purchase the power generated from the plant under a 150MW (AC), 20-year power purchase agreement.

 

RMT to build wind energy facilities

RMT has received a contract from Western Wind Energy for the construction of two wind energy facilities in the US. As per the contract, RMT has begun construction on the 120MW Windstar project in Tehachapi, California, and the 10MW Kingman project in Mohave County, Arizona.
