Masdar has received USD 615 million of bank financing and USD 153 million in equity from its Spanish and French partners to build the world's largest concentrated solar power (CSP) plant. Suntech and Zachry have received a contract from Sempra Generation to design and construct the Mesquite Solar 1 project in Arizona, USA. As per the contract, Zachry will install and integrate more than 800,000 Suntech multi-crystalline solar panels at the site. Construction of the plant will begin mid-2011 with completion set for 2013. The plant will generate 350,000MWh of electricity every year, enough to power 50,000 homes. Pacific Gas & Electric will purchase the power generated from the plant under a 150MW (AC), 20-year power purchase agreement.
