Nippon Steel and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy MOU Of Promoting Nippon Steel’s Green Steel

Nippon Steel Corporation (Nippon Steel), Nippon Steel Trading Corporation (Nippon Steel Trading) and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy K.K. (Siemens Gamesa) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly study promoting NSCarbolex™ Neutral, a green steel* supplied by Nippon Steel that applies mass balance approach for wind farm turbine towers in Japanese wind farm projects.

Incremental reductions of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions achieved through projects with additionality implemented by steel manufacturing companies is pooled in the organization, and thereafter steel products are supplied with certificates, in accordance with the guideline established by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).

Nippon Steel set forth the Nippon Steel Carbon Neutral Vision 2050 and work on reducing CO2 emissions as the most important management issue.
