Liberty Mines to restart Timmins operations
Liberty Mines of Toronto intends to restart production at its Timmins operations in Q1 2012. Mining and milling was suspended in February 2011 as a result of maintenance and tailings pond issues. The company has spent the last six months analyzing the tailings pond problems and will embark on a project to raise the tailings dam to provide an additional three years of capacity.
Bitumen refinery FEED contract
Fluor Corp. has been awarded a contract by North West Redwater Partnership to provide front-end engineering and design (FEED) services for a new refinery project in Alberta, Canada. Fluor booked the undisclosed contract value in the third quarter of 2011.

Jacobs wins SAGD, bitumen upgrading projects
Jacobs Engineering Group has received new contracts in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2011 from seven clients in the Alberta Oil Sands to support steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) and bitumen upgrading expansion projects.

Encana Inc. (ECA) has announced that the proposed Kitimat liquefied natural gas export terminal in British Columbia will help to stabilize gas prices in North America and provide an outlet for growing production from the province's Horn River Basin.
