Chevron Canada Limited, has announced that it will acquire a 50 per cent operating interest in the Kitimat liquefied natural gas (LNG) project and proposed Pacific Trail Pipeline (PTP), and a 50 per cent interest in approximately 644,000 acres of petroleum and natural gas rights in the Horn River and Liard Basins in British Columbia, Canada.

The Hebron field development offshore Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada has been sanctioned by operator ExxonMobil and its co-venturers. For Statoil, which holds a 9.7 per cent share in Hebron, this is a significant component in the growth of the company’s Canadian East Coast operations.

Australia's Crusader Resources plans to start production at its Posse iron ore project in Brazil in 2013 after it has received an operating license from local authorities. The license allows the production of 300,000 mt/year of run-of-mine ore using dry beneficiation.

The Discovery System has awarded Technip a lump sum pipeline installation contract for Discovery’s South Timbalier Block 283 Junction Platform project. The pipelines will be installed between existing facilities at water depths ranging from 83 to 244 meters.

Aura Minerals Inc. has awarded Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. a contract to provide a basic engineering package for the expansion of the process plant at its Aranzazu copper-gold-silver mine located in the state of Zacatecas, Mexico.

Rosneft and ExxonMobil have signed a Pilot Development Agreement for a joint project to assess the possibility of commercial production of tight oil reserves at the Bazhenov and Achimov formations in Western Siberia. Under the joint venture, the companies will run a pilot program for potential commercial production at Rosneft’s 23 license blocks covering a total area of more than 10,000 square kilometers.

Technip has been awarded an engineering, procurement, commissioning and installation (EPCI) contract by BG International Ltd.
