Don A. Campbell geothermal power plant completed

Ormat Technologies, has recently completed the Don A. Campbell geothermal power plant located in Mineral County, Nevada. The plant is currently producing at full capacity of 16 megawatts and is performing as expected.

Quanta Services wins thermal power plant contract

Quanta Power Generation, a Quanta Services company, was selected by Anchorage Municipal Light & Power for the George M. Sullivan Plant 2 Generation Replacement Project in Anchorage, Alaska. Under the terms of the contract, signed in December 2013, Quanta Power Generation will provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for all equipment and facilities for the 120MW plant.

Jacobs wins award for Novartis facility

Jacobs Engineering Group has received the 2013 Facility of the Year Award (FOYA) from the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineering, INTERPHEX and Pharmaceutical Processing magazine for a project it executed on behalf of Novartis.

Vale plans production increase for 2014

It has been announced that Vale, the Brazilian mining company, plans to produce 289,000 mt of nickel and 405,000 mt of copper this year, a substantial increase from the 192,000 mt of nickel and 275,000 mt of copper produced from January to September of last year.

Rolls-Royce wins Petrobras energy services contract

Rolls-Royce has been awarded a USD 138M, five-year services contract by Petrobras to support its oil production activities offshore Brazil.   Rolls-Royce will supply Petrobras with advanced maintenance and repair services to support fifteen Rolls-Royce RB211-G62 industrial gas turbine power generation units that are installed on four Petrobras oil platforms operating in the petroleum-rich, pre-salt Campos Basin.

Cliffs Natural Resources stops chromite project

The international mining company, Cliffs Natural Resources, has announced it is pulling the plug on its chromite project in the far north of Ontario. By the end of the fourth quarter of 2013, all activity on the project will be ceased indefinitely.
