NA Stainless expands in Kentucky
North American Stainless (NAS) plans to invest USD 10 million on increased peeled bar production and another USD 20 million on additional equipment upgrades at its Ghent facility. The company is a subsidiary of Acerinox, S.A., headquartered in Madrid, Spain; this expansion marks the largest Spanish investment Gerdau to invest in Rio wire rod mill
Gerdau will invest USD 1.5 billion to expand its wire rod and rolling mill in Rio de Janeiro. The project will more than double capacity at the company’s Cosigua mill in Santa Cruz, an industrial compound in Rio. The 40-year-old plant generates rods, bars and other steel products for the construction industry. Bombardier receives huge Global aircraft order
Bombardier has received an order from NetJets Inc. to construct 50 Global jets with options for an additional 70 aircraft. This marks the company’s largest business aircraft sale in history with the transaction valued at approximately USD 2.8 billion, based on list prices.

Eletrobras Eletronuclear has granted contracts for several phases of Angra 3, the third plant at Almirante Álvaro Alberto Nuclear Power Station (CNAAA), located at Itaorna beach in Angra dos Reis - Rio de Janeiro State. 
Kinder Morgan has entered into a crude oil joint venture with Deeprock Energy and Mercuria in Cushing, Oklahoma. KMP is investing USD 25 million for a 50% stake in an existing 1 million barrels capacity crude oil tank farm and the construction of three new storage tanks. 
SSAB will release the new WeldCalc 2.0 at the Samoter and ConExpo trade fairs in March. This updated version includes recommendations for Hardox and Domex in addition to Weldox steels and, due to the easy-access user interface and other new functions, the results are even easier to calculate and apply. 
According to Statistics Canada, Canada's real gross domestic product grew an annualized 3.3% in the fourth quarter of 2010 due to oil and gas extraction, mining and improving exports. The GDP rose 0.8% over the previous quarter as exports increased by 4%. Natural gas production and oil extraction increased

ThyssenKrupp Nirosta will provide stainless steel from Germany for New York's new landmark, the One World Trade Center. The corners of the skyscraper's facade will be edged with stainless steel. ThyssenKrupp produced the material for the landmark using a customized rolling and heat-treatment process
