NA Stainless expands in Kentucky

Gerdau to invest in Rio wire rod mill

Gerdau will invest USD 1.5 billion to expand its wire rod and rolling mill in Rio de Janeiro. The project will more than double capacity at the company’s Cosigua mill in Santa Cruz, an industrial compound in Rio. The 40-year-old plant generates rods, bars and other steel products for the construction industry.

Bombardier receives huge Global aircraft order

Bombardier has received an order from NetJets Inc. to construct 50 Global jets with options for an additional 70 aircraft. This marks the company’s largest business aircraft sale in history with the transaction valued at approximately USD 2.8 billion, based on list prices.

Kinder Morgan enters crude oil storage JV

Kinder Morgan has entered into a crude oil joint venture with Deeprock Energy and Mercuria in Cushing, Oklahoma. KMP is investing USD 25 million for a 50% stake in an existing 1 million barrels capacity crude oil tank farm and the construction of three new storage tanks.

SSAB reveals the new WeldCalc 2.0

SSAB will release the new WeldCalc 2.0 at the Samoter and ConExpo trade fairs in March. Energy and mining boost Canada

According to Statistics Canada, Canada's real gross domestic product grew an annualized 3.3% in the fourth quarter of 2010 due to oil and gas extraction, mining and improving exports.
