Davis new VP of Govt Affairs, Public Affairs
Matt Davis, current vice president of Public Affairs for The Dow Chemical Company, has been appointed vice president of Global Government Affairs and Public Affairs. In his new, executive-level role, Davis will provide leadership for all of Dow's Government Affairs, Public Policy, Issues Management, Communications, Reputation, and Public Affairs strategy and actions across the Dow world.
Saipem to construct secondary horizon upgrader
Saipem has won a new EPC Lump Sum contract by Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. The project includes the engineering, procurement and construction of a secondary upgrader with a production capacity of 42,599 BPSD (barrels per stream day) of hydrotreated gas oil, as part of the Horizon Oil Sands Project (Hydrotreater Phase 2) in Alberta, Canada.
Australia and U.S. team up for renewable aviation
The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration, together with Australia's Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism have initiated a Memorandum of Understanding to continue and coordinate research on the development of alternative renewable aviation civilian aircraft jet fuel. NiSource Inc. President & CEO Robert C. Skaggs Jr. announced a leadership change at NiSource Gas Transmission and Storage (NGT&S). Effective immediately, Jimmy D. Staton, a NiSource executive with an extensive background in the natural gas business, will take responsibility for leading the company's NGT&S units.
Brazilian govt to decrease ethanol in gas
Brazilian Mines and Energy Minister Edison Lobao has announced that the government will decrease the admixture of alcohol with gasoline provided to service stations from 25 to 20 as of 1 October 2011. Brazil uses sugarcane to produce ethanol as an additive to gasoline.
