Brazil’s stainless steel use up in 2013

Abinox, the Brazilian Stainless Steel Association, has studied the data and discovered that stainless steel consumption rose by 8.7 percent, to 398,000 tons, in 2013 compared to 2012 during the same period.

The study also reported that the consumption of flat products rose to 350,000 tons, which was up six percent from the same time in 2012. Long product consumption rose even higher in 2013, by 33 percent to reach 48,000 tons compared to the previous year.

Per capita consumption also reached new heights rising to 1.98 kilograms. The previous record was in 2008 with 1.94 kilograms and 2012 reached a per capita of 1.89 kilograms.
