AK Steel rings NYSE opening bell

On 5 April 2010, AK Steel celebrated its fifteenth anniversary of trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). In a ceremony honoring the occasion, James L Wainscott, chairman, president and CEO of AK Steel rang the NYSE’s opening bell, signifying the start of the trading day. Also participating in the ceremony were the other executive officers of AK Steel. Ringing the opening bell is an honour accorded to senior executives of NYSE-listed companies, among others. The common stock of AK Steel began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on April 5, 1995 under the symbol “AKS.” Since that time, AK Steel has grown to become a Fortune 500 company, recording about USD 8 billion in revenues in 2008. The company has also been selected as a member of the S&P 500.
