World crude steel production for May 2015

The World Steel Association (worldsteel) has collected the crude steel production numbers for its 65 member countries and for May 2015 it was approximately 139 million tons (Mt), which was a -2.1 percent decrease compared to May 2014.
The United States produced 6.8 Mt of crude steel in May 2015, which is a decrease of -8.5 percent compared to May 2014. Brazil’s crude steel production for May 2015 was 3.0 Mt, up by 3.8 percent compared to May 2014.
The crude steel capacity utilisation ratio for the 65 countries in May 2015 was 72.1 percent. It is -3.4 percentage points lower than May 2014. Compared to April 2015, it is 0.4 percentage points lower.
