Wood Group completes Centaur to Taurus turbine upgrade

Wood Group GTS has completed an equipment upgrade and has been awarded a five-year term service agreement (LTSA) to maintain a Solar® TaurusTM 60 gas turbine to be used for power generation at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego.
Wood Group GTS upgraded Rady Children’s power plant, replacing the existing Centaur® 40 gas turbine with a more powerful Taurus 60 model and upgrading the control and fuel systems and other ancillary equipment, helping to ensure Rady Children’s has reliable, uninterrupted power. The LTSA encompasses scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, monitoring and diagnostic services, and supply of parts.
“We are pleased to provide Rady Children’s with this full suite of services, from the initial pre-project planning and controls modifications to installation and aftercare, improving the hospital’s power generation capacity and efficiency,” said Iain Murray, president of Oil, Gas and Industrial services for Wood Group GTS. “With over 25 years of experience in supporting owners and operators of Solar gas turbine equipment, we have the capability to offer a complete scope, alternative-service choice and look forward to servicing this newly installed unit.”
