The US Department of Commerce announced the preliminary results of its antidumping administrative review for stainless steel bar from Brazil. The results were published in the Federal Register on November 3. The US DOC has determined a preliminary dumping margin of 4.07% for Villares Metals SA based on the review that covered 1 February 2009 to 31 January 2010. Carpenter Technology Corporation, Valbruna Slater Satinless, Electralloy Corporation, a division of GO Carlson, Inc, Outokumpu Stainless Bar, Inc and Universal Stainless have all petitioned the investigation. US Customs and Border Protection will be required to charge antidumping duties on all appropriate entries if these preliminary results are adopted in the final results of the DOC’s administrative review. Final results will be issued 120 days from the publication date of the preliminary results. Currently, the margins in force for stainless steel bar imported from Brazil are 3.7% for Villares Metals and 19.43% for all other producers and exporters.
