Universal Stainless & Alloy Products Inc., a North American distributor of Stainless, Nickel, Aluminum, and Special Alloys, has reported that sales for the fourth quarter of 2008 rose 15% to USD 57.1 million compared with USD 49.6 million in the fourth quarter of 2007. Net income for the fourth quarter of 2008 was USD 1.2 million compared with UDS 4.4 million in the fourth quarter of 2007. Sales for the 2008 fourth quarter exceeded the company’s forecast of USD 45 to 55 million. For full year 2008, sales were a record USD 235.1 million while net income was USD 13.9 million compared with sales of USD 229.9 million and net income of USD 22.5 million in 2007. The company currently estimates that sales for the first quarter of 2009 will range from USD 32 to 42 million.
