Over the past few years, a new skyscraper has been erected in Manhattan, the heart of New York City. The facade of the 228m tall building features stainless steel supplied by ThyssenKrupp Nirosta. The global headquarters of financial service providers Goldman Sachs has now opened for business, and more than 9000 employees have moved into offices there since January 2010. For ThyssenKrupp Nirosta, the high-rise is a further showpiece for the use of stainless steel from Germany. Construction work on the new Goldman Sachs headquarters building started in late 2005. It was designed by the US architectural firm of Pei Cobb Freed & Partners. The 43 story building overlooking the Hudson River is equipped with a special eco-friendly underfloor air system. The facade is made from Nirosta 4404 (1.0/2.0mm thick panels in a width of 1500mm and various lengths). In total ThyssenKrupp Nirosta supplied 400 metric tons of material.
