The value of in-service non-destructive examinations

Today, non-destructive testing (NDT) technologies are tailored for society to communicate more clearly and efficiently than ever before. NDT images are easily shared throughout the globe, allowing us to identify flaws effectively – even in highly reliable stainless steel equipment. Inspections are performed while new equipment is fabricated, but also while it is in service – which is indispensable for aging plants. Inspection programs such as those looking for corrosion under insulation (CUI) along with rope access, serve to refurbish equipment. As well, robotics visuals and ultrasonic inspections have become mainstays.
