The usage of stainless steel in cryogenics

In his article, “Stainless steel usage in cryogenic applications – An update”, Thomas Tschanz, the senior consultant at the McIlvaine Company states that the first stainless steel was used largely for every day practical applications in cutlery and gun barrels for its improved corrosion and erosion resistance.

Its usage has now grown to include many industries ranging from food and pharmaceutical to oil and gas, among many others.

Possibly not as evident, is the growing usage of various grades of stainless steel in the oil and gas industry.”
