Tenova, a leading developer and provider of sustainable solutions for the green transition of the metals industry, has announced the continuation of its long-standing collaboration with Topy Industries Ltd. at their Toyohashi Plant Works. It is continuing on to Phase II of its innovative acoustic water detection system. The Japanese steel company has demonstrated its confidence in Tenova’s advanced steelmaking technologies once more. This reinforces a partnership that has delivered measurable results for two decades.
Recently, the success of Tenova’s acoustic water detection Phase I installation on the 200t AC EAF shell represents the first rollout of this technology in the Japanese market. The collaboration continues with Phase II integration of the Tenova detection system on the EAF shaft panels. This further strengthens Toyohashi Plant Works’ commitment to sustainability and technological excellence.
The patented Acoustic System consists of software and models designed to process data used to detect and alarm for the presence of water. By harnessing sound and vibration data from the furnace, the acoustic water detection system provides real-time insights into critical operational conditions. What was once considered a nuisance/noise can now be used as a diagnostic asset for EAF steelmakers.
