Tata Steel secures deepwater contract

Tata Steel has been awarded an eight-figure US dollar contract to supply pipe for Enterprise Products Partners L.P.’s new crude oil export pipeline in the Gulf of Mexico’s Keathley Canyon area.

As per the contract Tata Steel will deliver more than 48,000mt of steel pipe from its 42in mill in Hartlepool, England for the Lucius Development Project. The project has the capacity to produce in excess of 80,000 barrels of oil per day.

Tata Steel will provide 105mi of 18in diameter line pipe. The pipe will be laid at water depths of up to 7000ft and is designed to meet the required specification for deepwater conditions.
