SUNY Polytechnic facility approved

SUNY Polytechnic Institute, through the non-profit Fort Schuyler Management Corp., plans to build a 166,000-square-foot facility that Norsk Titanium will then lease for the manufacture of titanium aerospace components. Construction of the facility has been approved by the Town of Plattsburgh Planning Board. The plant is expected to start operation in the summer of 2018.

Empire State Development will provide USD $125 million for the project, which is already included in the most recent state budget. Plans call for a largely rectangular building, with a small rectangular bump-out on the southwest side for offices. It has been said that the plant will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
