In her article Stainless steel applications in shale fracking operations, Karen Vacura Analyst and Editor for the McIlvaine Company explains how the U.S. energy industry is experiencing a boom in natural gas and oil extraction from shale formations due to advances in drilling and hydraulic fracturing.
She writes, “Hydraulic fracturing originated in the United States around 1950, but large scale shale production did not occur until around 2000 when shale gas production became a commercial reality with successful extraction in the Barnett Shale play, Texas, USA. Today shale resources provide a significant percent of total US natural gas and crude oil production.”
