SENER awarded cogeneration plant contract

Alpek S.A.B. de C.V., through its subsidiary Grupo Petrotemex, S.A. de C.V., has awarded a turnkey contract to a consortium led by SENER Mexico for the construction of a cogeneration power plant in Cosoleacaque, Veracruz. The plant in Mexico, will have a capacity of over 85MW, boosting the competitiveness of Alpek’s operations.

The new facility will have two gas turbines, two heat recovery steam generators and a back pressure steam turbine.

Within the construction consortium, SENER will carry out the basic and detailed engineering, and will also coordinate the project. The timeframe for completing construction will be 23 months, as the plant is slated for completion in February 2014.
