Restore your stainless steel

The process of stainless steel being immersed in a nitric or citric acid bath is called passivation, and doing so, improves the corrosion resistance of stainless steel alloys.

Florida-based company, Sun Glo Plating is now offering passivation, which also reduces cost, helps in sterilization, and has mild chemical protection.

“The acid removes tramp iron and surface contaminants, which helps to clean and re-oxidize the metal,” explained Dave Brackenhamer, director of business development and spokesman for Sun Go Plating Company. “This post-fabrication process provides for a more passive and corrosion resistant surface.”

Although perfect during post-fabrication, Brackenhaner also said it is helpful in the restoration of damaged stainless steel surfaces by removing the surface iron that is exposed from mechanical use and/or chemical cleaners. After itÂ’s complete, the surface goes back to its natural finish.
