Reliance acquires Fox Metals and Alloys

California’s Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co. has completed its acquisition of Fox Metals and Alloys, Inc., the Houston-based steel distributor specializing in alloy, stainless steel bar and plat products. The company primarily services OEMs and machine shops that manufactured equipment for the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.

Fox began operations in 1985 and built a reputation as a trusted supplier in the Houston/Gulf Coast region when critical supplies are needed on a strict deadline.

Fox’s in-house processing services include saw cutting, plate burning and testing. Ronald Kimball, the former owner and chief executive officer of Fox passed away in 2011 and his widow, Suzie Kimball, has served as chief executive officer ever since. The intention is that Fox will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co.

“The acquisition of this high quality, customer service-focused company further expands our presence in the oil and gas arena, an attractive and growing market for us,” said David H. Hannah, Chairman and CEO of Reliance.
