Praxair’s new air separation unit opens

It has been reported that Praxair’s new 600-tons per day air separation unit, located in Memphis, Tennessee, has begun operations. The goal is to expand the company’s ability to supply gaseous and liquid oxygen, nitrogen and aragon to clients across the southeastern United States.

Praxair is already the owner and operator of several plants and pipelines located through the region, which serve customers such as Nucor Steel Memphis and Valero Memphis Refinery. The facility uses energy efficient processes and aragon recovery methods to create the liquid products. The company is one of the largest industrial gases companies in North and South America. It produces, sells and distributes atmospheric, process and specialty gases and high-performance surface coatings.

Jeff Barnhard, East Region vice president for Praxair’s U.S. Industrial Gases, has commented, “Our new investment strengthens Praxair’s position as a leading supplier of industrial gases and will support our growing business in the region. The plant will further enable Praxair to serve the full spectrum of customer needs, from cylinder gases to bulk and on-site gases.”
