Peru: oil find

Canadian-based Talisman Energy has found commercially-viable oil reserves at Block 64 in northern Peru. Peruvian President Alan Garcia said in early November that Canada’s third-biggest independent oil explorer had found light crude in the Maranon basin close to the border with Ecuador. Talisman has also made a discovery in its Huron Foothills well in neighbouring Colombia and plans to begin seismic tests and appraisal drilling at that site next year.
