Olympic Steel appoints Sr. Mgmt. in Minneapolis

Olympic Steel Inc., a US metals service center focused on processed stainless, carbon and coated flat-rolled sheet, coil and plate steel and aluminum products, recently announced the creation of two new senior level management positions at its Minneapolis operations. Thomas Ehlers will serve as General Manager—Minnesota Plate Division and Thomas Sacco will serve as General Manager—Minnesota Coil Division.

These positions are intended to strengthen customer service and internal efficiencies for the respective commercial businesses. Going forward, each division will be managed separately, however, many synergies will remain between the two proximate facilities, including common sales and operational teams, according to Raymond Walker, President and Chief Operating Officer—Flat Rolled.

Ehlers began his career with Olympic Steel in 2005, as a Field Sales Representative, quickly progressing to Inside Sales Manager, Regional Manager and then to his most recent role as General Manager. Sacco has been with Olympic Steel since 1994. He has held key positions in Operations, Inside & Outside Sales, and as Logistics Manager, prior to being promoted to his most recent position of Regional Sales Manager in 2013.
