Oceaneering International Inc has secured a contract with BHP Billiton Petroleum Pty Ltd to supply umbilicals and distribution equipment for Macedon gas field development off Western Australia. Oceaneering’s will construct and supply an integrated umbilical system composed of 100km of steel tube umbilicals and necessary distribution equipment, including termination assemblies and flying leads. The umbilicals will be manufactured at Oceaneering’s plant in Rosyth, Scotland while the distribution hardware will be built at the company’s facilities in Houston, Texas and Rosyth. Product manufacturing is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2011. BHP’s Western Australia Macedon gas development is composed of four wells at a water depth of 180m.
