NioCorp Developments Ltd. recently announced that it will broadcast an update on its Elk Creek, Nebraska, Superalloy Materials Project to investors and others in a global webcast on February 23, following the conclusion of its 2016 Annual General and Special Meeting.
The Elk Creek Project is expected to produce niobium, scandium and titanium, which are technology metals used in superalloys and in a variety of applications in the oil and gas, clean energy, aerospace, defense, construction, automotive, medical and other industries.
Niobium is used to produce superalloys as well as High Strength, Low Alloy (HSLA) steel, which is a lighter, stronger steel used in structural, automotive and pipeline applications. Scandium is a superalloy material that can be combined with Aluminum to make alloys with increased strength and improved corrosion resistance. It is also a critical component of advanced solid oxide fuel cells. Titanium is used in various superalloys and is a key component of pigments used in paper, paint and plastics and is also used for aerospace applications, armor and medical implants.
