Parker Hannifin Corporation’s has launched its new Intellinder hydraulic cylinder, which is targeted for hydroelectric gate actuation and governor control.
It uses a “smart cylinder” that integrates position-sensing technology and includes a stainless steel hydraulic cylinder line and an exterior mount, non-pressurized, non-contacting sensor. Replacing this sensor doesn’t require removing the cylinder from service. The Intellinder also features health monitoring to detect and diagnose potential sensor malfunctions.
The cylinder can operate from -40 to 220 degrees Farenheit and is universal across a wide range of cylinder bore and rod diameters with stroke lengths up to 27 feet.
The sensor comes standard with J1939 CAN communication, which communicates with signal conditioning electronics via a long cable run up to 131 feet. Up to eight Intellinder cylinders can be connected to a single bus.
