The European Stainless Steel Development Association (Euro Inox) has announced a new publication, Erection of Stainless Steel Structures by The Steel Construction Institute (SCI) that details the stainless steel clauses given in EN 1090 with added commentary.
The European Standard EN 1090 covers the fabrication and erection of carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminium structures. It also specifies acceptable standrads for surface finish, joining, fabricating, erection, installation, inspection, maintenance and cleaning.
The new publication will be helpful for specialist stainless steel fabricators who do not have experience in the construction sector. Model clauses are included in the guide with supporting commentary, covering additional and optional requirements, which may sometimes be necessary to a certain grade of stainless steel or type of structure.
