New facility offers test drive of 3D technology

Renishaw’s new center in Kitchener, Ontario, allows potential customers to essentially test drive additive manufacturing equipment, learning about the advantages and capabilities of the machines before committing to a CAD $750,000 purchase. Renishaw’s products include additive manufacturing systems that produce 3D objects using metal powders, such as titanium or stainless steel.

The Renishaw machines at its Additive Manufacturing Solution Center in Kitchener use a process called laser powder bed fusion, in which a laser is used to melt the metal powder as the object takes shape. It’s the first Renishaw solution center in North America, with another opening later in 2017 in Chicago.
