New CEO for Syncrude Canada

Mr. Mark Ward has been named the new chief executive officer of Syncrude Canada Ltd. His new position will become effective on April 1, 2014.

Until recently, Mr. Ward has been with ExxonMobil production Co. as Nigeria’s lead country manager. He has over 35 years of technical and leadership experience with ExxonMobil. Syncrude is changing up some of their leadership positions by separating the previous role of president and chief executive officer into the new roles of chief executive officer and president and chief operating officer. Syncrude will be announcing the appointments of the president and chief operating officer at a later time.

The current president and chief executive officer of Syncrude Canada, Scott Sullivan, will be returning to ExxonMobil. There is a management services agreement in which Imperial Oil and ExxonMobil provide operational services to Syncrude Canada and senior leadership supports the organization.
