Monett Metals, which is celebrating its 40th year of business in Monett, Missouri, has announced plans for a 23,000-square-foot addition of its manufacturing plant, located on County Road and Industrial Boulevard. Construction will begin in the coming weeks and will take approximately six months.
A steel foundry, Monett Metals produces quality castings including investment castings in most alloys such as 300 & 400 stainless steels, nickel base, cobalt base alloys, as well as carbon and high alloy steel grades. According to Mike Renfrow, Monett Metals vice president, approximately 30 percent of the company’s business goes to the oil industry, 25 to 30 percent goes toward food processing, and another 25 to 30 percent are valve related.
The business has made castings for British Petroleum tankers, castings for fuel valves used at the Beijing airport built for the Olympics in 2008. Monett Metals concentrates on low volume products, able to reproduce quality parts in small quantities in a short lead time, unlike major manufacturers that require customers to wait many weeks for delivery, and customer service.
