Modular fume extraction system

Lincoln Electric has announced that it has released a modular fume extraction hood with Statiflex filter banks to control and remove weld fumes and grinding particulate. The modular fume extraction hood and Statiflex filter banks are suited for welding, cutting, arc gouging, grinding, plasma cutting and finishing operations in manufacturing plants, job shops and training environments. They can also be adapted to robot welding, hard automation welding, semi-automatic and manual welding. The hood can be hung from the ceiling or deployed as a free standing unit, supported by optional leg mounting kits. The modular extraction hood has semi-transparent welding strips to prevent cross drafts and control airflow direction. The hood has a double panel roof configuration which acts as an in-line baffle. A deflection plate and spark arrestor to prevent sparks from entering the duct work. Fabricators can choose one of eight Statiflex filter bank units to complete the fume control and filtration system. A number of sizes ranging from two banks to 32 banks are available. According to Lincoln Electric, the Statiflex filter bank units have internal airflow systems which disperse incoming air evenly throughout the filter bank. They also have a self-cleaning design using air pulse amplifier technology to clean the filters.
