In his market report, Liquefied natural gas: A most profitable market for stainless steel suppliers, Robert McIlvaine, President of The McIlvaine Company, explains how in recent years, liquefied natural gas (LNG) has been an up-and-coming market, due to the component being widely considered a form of clean energy. The main purpose of LNG is to be an easier component to transport, unlike the gaseous form of natural gas. Therefore, viable transportation and storage must be used.
Materials such as stainless steel and super-duplex stainless steel are known for being highly corrosion-resistant and can withstand a vast range of temperatures, making them ideal in the LNG industry, McIlvaine writes.
