Lapham-Hickey Steel Acquires SMC Metal Fabricators

Lapham-Hickey Steel, based in Bedford Park, Illinois, has acquired SMC Metal Fabricators, Oshkosh, Wisconsin. SMC has 70 employees running a 115,000-square-foot manufacturing facility adjacent to Lapham-Hickey’s two existing Oshkosh facilities. SMC performs laser cutting, forming, welding, powder coating and assembly services.

Brian Hickey, president of Lapham-Hickey, says that the products and services SMC offers “will enhance our existing fabrication services in Wisconsin. Our combined production platforms will allow us to better service both Lapham-Hickey and SMC customers throughout the Midwest.”

Dan Ruedinger, president and CEO of SMC, says the change in ownership “will allow us to better serve our customers, employees, and the greater Oshkosh community while accelerating our growth in the coming years.” He thanked the previous owners, the Albright family, “for 29 years of stewardship and leadership at SMC.”
