At each Duplex World Seminar, a Lifetime Achievement Award is bestowed on an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the global materials industry. Past recipients are Raymond Cordewener, Jan Olof Nilsson, and Jacques Charles.
This year the organizers paid tribute to Joelle Greenwood from Mannesmann Stainless Tubes. Throughout her career Joelle has devoted her considerable expertise and unflagging energy to promoting the most efficient use of materials across a wide range of industries. She has been particularly effective at the many face-to-face events she regularly helps to organize and present.
Joelles career started in the UK in 1986 with IMS Group. Over the years, various acquisitions and mergers provided her with the opportunity to work for DMV Stainless, a joint venture in between Dalmine (now Tenaris), Mannesmann and Vallourec, focusing on the manufacture of seamless corrosion resistant alloys tubes and pipes predominantly in the energy sector.
Since 2003, Joelle has been based in France at the Salzgitter mill in Burgundy. In 2007 she was appointed Global Key Accounts Manager for the Oil & Gas market. In this role she travels the world to observe and understand market dynamics and actively participates in the evolution of industry standards and industry events. In giving the award, Duplex World Seminar organizer and Editor in Chief of Stainless Steel World Joanne McIntyre said: Those of us who have worked with Joelle know her to be an extremely knowledgeable, competent person with superb eye for detail. Above all she is a person of great integrity. Joelle is without a shadow of a doubt an enormous asset to Mannesmann, to Duplex World, and to the global materials community and I am delighted to present her with this award.
