Jacobs awarded oil sands and plant services contract

Suncor Energy Services has awarded Jacobs Engineering Group an oil sands and plant services contract for its Fort McMurray Base Plant situated approximately 270 miles northeast of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

The contract value has yet to be released but it is certain the agreement is for the duration of two years. Jacobs has maintained a stellar safety record while participating in seven turnarounds, over the last four years, at the Fort McMurray plant.

The contract stipulates that Jacobs will provide management and services to support the maintenance of the plant’s process, which could include mechanical, rotating and operating equipment, as well as maintenance provisions in the areas of transportation, insulation, painting and structural work.

Jacobs Group Vice President Greg Rumford has commented, “We have provided services to Suncor at their facilities across Canada for a number of years and are delighted to further the relationship through this contract at the Fort McMurray Base Plant. With our maintenance experience and turnarounds safety record, we look forward to supporting Suncor’s goals for efficient operations and continuous improvement.”
