The Materials Technology Institute (MTI) will host a Global Solutions Symposium at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center, in Baton Rouge, LA, from February 18 to 20, 2020. The information-packed event will feature 23 presentations on Emerging Technology, Turnarounds, High Temperature Corrosion, Corrosion Under Insulation, and Knowledge Management.
The technical program, organized by MTI members from leading companies in the process industries, is designed for engineering, operations, and management personnel in chemical production, refining, mining, and other processing industry organizations.
Jerry Lebold, Senior Vice President BASF, Geismar, Louisiana site, will give a keynote presentation to address the Symposium theme as it applies to BASF. The afternoon session includes two tracks Emerging Technology and Turnarounds to offer attendees the opportunity to learn about industry hot topics, such as RFID Sensors, Intelligent Tubes, Surface Treatments, Microbiologically Induced Corrosion, Detecting Fatigue Cracks, Sigma Phase Formation, and Risk Based Inspection.
Day two of the symposium features Managing Knowledge: Its Not Just Training Anymore, a morning keynote with Dr. Peggy Salvatore, author and subject matter expert. Salvatore will also lead the Knowledge Management track to explore problems that industry managers face in knowledge retention and offer potential solutions.
The morning and afternoon sessions include two additional tracks running alongside Knowledge Management. The first track begins with presentations on High Temperature Corrosion, including a Review of Existing Facilities for Risk of High Temperature Hydrogen Attack (HTHA) and Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Methods for Evaluating HTHA damage. Track two concludes with an afternoon session that takes a closer look at Corrosion Under Insulation, including presentations on CUI Risk Assessment, a CUI Estimation Model, and Managing the Consequence of CUI Leak.
In addition to the five technical tracks, the Global Solutions Marketplace will provide access to 30 industry partners, ranging from engineering companies to metals producers and fabricators. These industry experts will be showcasing their innovative products and services as well as answering questions on the latest solutions for processing industry plants. The exhibition will also play host to meals, receptions and other special activities.
