The “History of Stainless Steel” by Hal Cobb made such a strong impression on the China Stainless Steel Council (CSSC) that they have decided it would be ideal to distribute in Chinese as part of the centenary celebrations of stainless steel in 2012. The book covers not only the fascinating story of the original discoveries but also the importance of stainless steel in society today.
ASM, the copyright holder, has granted the necessary licence to CSSC. Translation is being funded by CSSC and the Nickel Institute (NI) with additional support from the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF), the International Chromium Development Association (ICDA), and the International Molybdenum Association (IMOA). It will be in print for the start of the centenary celebrations in Beijing in May 2012 which will be launched by ISSF with a special exhibition at their annual meeting. CSSC will then give it a broad distribution to students, engineers, architects and others who are influential in material selection.
