HFT’s MultiStrike aims for safer welding

Recognizing both the performance requirement and the risk to health posed by thoriated tungsten electrodes, Huntingdon Fusion Techniques (HFT)’s MultiStrike® Tungsten Electrodes not only aim to deliver an increased performance, but also to reduce the risk to health.

Tungsten electrodes are used when arc welding with the tungsten inert gas (TIG) process or plasma welding. It is necessary to grind tungsten electrodes after they have touched the molten weld pool or the filler rod to the tungsten, which is not only time consuming but can also be a hazard to health.

MultiStrike® Tungsten Electrodes contain a mix of non-radioactive rare earth elements, which aim to lower the working temperature of the tungsten electrode, making it longer lasting. MultiStrikes® can be used for welding aluminium with the AC process as well as steels and alloys with the DC process.
