MEPS is reporting that global crude stainless production is predicted to reach a new record of 40.2 million tons this year. This would exceed last year’s record figure by 5.7 percent. Output is expected to grow in all the major stainless steel making countries and regions.
In the United States, the first half of 2014 has also outstripped any previous forecasts. The annual outturn for the year is now predicted at 2.1 million tons, which is 3.4 percent higher than the figure for 2013.
Across the rest of the world, crude stainless steelmaking is predicted at 3.775 million tons for this year, which is a growth rate of 7.8 percent over 2013’s final total.
