Ginna nuclear plant sale approved

The New York state Public Service Commission has approved the USD 4.5 billion sale of three upstate nuclear power plants – including the Robert E. Ginna plant in Wayne County – to a partnership co-owned by Electricite de France SA (EDF). EDF is acquiring a 49.99% interest in the nuclear operations of Constellation Energy Group, the Maryland-based company that owns Ginna as well as the Nine Mile Point I and II plants near Oswego. Constellation Energy Group will retain a 50.01% interest in Constellation Nuclear, the subsidiary that will remain the indirect owner of the Nine Mile and Ginna nuclear facilities.
